CITYMAIN Group becomes SPB UK
Citymain Group, a subsidiary of France’s SPB group since 2010, has been renamed SPB UK. SPB has been the European leader in affinity insurance and services for more than 100 major brands for 50 years. Operating on a white label basis, SPB draws on unique know-how that combines design and management of bespoke insurance and warranty extension programmes for products in the banking, mobile phone, home and personal segments. This skill chain allows SPB’s clients to generate value and loyalty. The group operates in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Switzerland, Tunisia and the UK, with more than 1,200 employees. The new name, SPB UK, and the appointment of Colin Whitehair, who has experience in European markets, will enable the company to offer insurance and services with a region-wide dimension.

Colin Whitehair appointed Managing Director of SPB UK
Colin Whitehair is an experienced business leader. He joined Card Protection Plan Ltd (CPP) in 1995 as a consultant, becoming Group Finance Director, then, Chief Operating Officer and finally, Managing Director. Under Colin’s stewardship, CPP was one of the UK’s fastest growing companies. In 2002, he became an executive in HBOS General Insurance, where he set up and run St Andrew’s Membership Services (StAMS) to offer optional insurances to the customers of the HBOS Group. In June 2008, HBOS undertook a strategic review that led to the acquisition by the management and LSG part of Phones4U group. LSG provides mobile phone insurance to most British banks. Colin took over as Client Director at LSG. In May 2011, he left the group to expand his experience of European markets, and has recently been appointed Managing Director of SPB UK.
Commenting, Jean-Marie Guian, Chairman of the Board of SPB, said: “I am delighted that Colin, who has 30 years’ experience in telco and banking industries, is joining SPB. His time-served expertise in mobile phone insurance in the UK and abroad will enable SPB to grow its business significantly in the UK. I also want to thank Paul Kelsey, his predecessor, for his deep involvement in Citymain during these past three years of hand-over”.
